We Can Create a Navigable 3D Model of Your Property
3/20/2021 (Permalink)
SERVPRO® of Glenview is excited to announce that our team of professionals now has the capability to produce 3D images that show much greater information in the spaces and details of areas scanned, using professional 3D imaging camera and software.
After extreme water or fire damage, our team can use Matterport's technology to scan a residential or commercial property to create a seamless, navigable 3D model. This scan can be utilized from start to finish in the mitigation and restoration process, to help maintain continuity and awareness for all involved, not only during the mitigation process, but during the insurance claims assessment process, as well as during the reconstruction.
Alternatively, our team can create 3D models for show purposes and portfolios, such as companies who want to showcase their company properties online or to prospective employees, realtors selling a property, contractors who built, painted, or reconstructed rooms or a home, or designers who have provided decorating services for a location. 3D models would be particularly useful for those who provide custom work for clients which may include one-of-a-kind work, such as murals painted in a client's home.
While the commercial applications of a 3D model of a space are more obvious, we would like to point out there are applications for a 3D model of residential spaces. A homeowner could use the 3D scan to document the interior of their home, contents, and belongings. If you own property which can be rented out, whether by tenants or for vacation purposes, a 3D model of your available property can be toured by prospective tenants or renters (such as those on AirBnB, VRBO, or other similar sites).
The completed 3D model is accessible online and provides users a visual tour of the space. It is fully navigable to help users see virtually the space around them, as if they were really there. The applications for such a 3D model are quite extensive and we hope to work with both homeowners and professionals from a wide variety of specialties to create 3D models for their business needs.
Check out the innovative technology we use to produce 3D images for our customers on the Matterport YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6k7BrgeUkA&t=15s
While we encourage Homeowners to consider documenting their homes in 3D, Realtors, Insurance Agents, Property Owners, Property Managers, Architects, Building Contractors, Remodelers, Painters, Decorators, and Artists are some of the professionals whose businesses could benefit from having 3D images available for their clients. Calling Us for Water Damage? Here's What to Expect
3/8/2021 (Permalink)
Call Today – (847) 832-9300
When we answer the phone, we are ready to help!
Our staff understands that when you call us, you may be feeling upset, stressed, vulnerable, or confused. You need an expert to guide you through this crisis. SERVPRO® of Glenview has the specific water damage training and experience to help you through this tough time. We specialize in water damage restoration — in fact, it's the cornerstone of our business.
What to Expect When You Call
When you call us, we will ask several questions regarding your water damage emergency. These questions are necessary to determine whether we need to respond immediately or whether we will first come out to perform an inspection for estimate. If we are responding by sending a crew immediately, the questions asked will help us determine what equipment and resources to bring, including how many trained SERVPRO® professionals may be needed.
Our SERVPRO® representative will ask several questions, including:
- Personal information
- Your name
- The address of the water-damaged home or business
- Your phone number(s)
- Your email address
- Whether you are calling on someone else's behalf or if you are the homeowner / business owner
- Insurance information (if applicable)
- Your insurance provider
- If known, your insurance claim #
- If known, your insurance adjuster's info
- If known, the amount of your deductible
- When the flooding or water damage occurred
- What caused the water damage (if known)
- Whether the source of water has been addressed
- For example, if your sump pump failed, we'll need to know if the plumber has been out to fix the pump.
- If the power was out, we'll ask whether electricity is available on-site
- What you can see that has been damaged by the water
- Flooring
- Walls
- Ceiling
- Contents & belongings
- What steps you may have already taken in responding to your water emergency
- If possible, estimate the area of water-damage, either in square footage or in room measurements. Knowing how large an area that has been affected may directly impact the need for an immediate response.
Based on your individual situation, we will set a time to come to your home or business, either for immediate response or to inspect and provide an estimate.
Actions You Can Take Before We Arrive
Additionally, you can count on our staff to reassure you and to provide you with guidance on what measures you can take while you wait for us. For instance, if your sump pump failed and your basement has flooded, you can minimize damage by taking immediate action. This may include removing contents and belongings which are getting wet or are in the path of the rising waters; removing or raising furniture above the water by placing the furniture legs on blocks or risers; removing water-absorbing materials such as carpeting, cushions or pillows, blankets, or other linens, as well as books, papers, or cardboard boxes. While these actions may seem like common knowledge, in a crisis situation, it is easy to draw a blank on what needs to be done.
Any measures you can take to minimize the damage to your contents and belongings should be taken. However, if you are unable to move your contents on your own, be sure to let our office staff know this during your initial phone call. Our technicians will remove your belongings from the location of water-damage if you are unable to do so. If for any reason you do not feel safe or comfortable in doing any tasks in the water-damaged area of your home, please let us know and leave it for us to do. We want you to stay safe and unharmed.
If you have any questions or concerns about the inquiry process, please reach out to us and we will gladly address your concerns and answer your questions. Call our office at 847-832-9300.
We pride ourselves in being understanding, professional, and kind to our customers, and we strive to be thorough in our assessments and straightforward in what we recommend be done for your situation.
We have the knowledge, experience, and equipment to handle your water damage mitigation, cleanup, and restoration. And we are proud to have over 50 years' experience standing behind the SERVPRO® name.

In 2020, We Are Grateful for the Dedicated Members of our Team
11/24/2020 (Permalink)
What are you grateful for?
2020 certainly has been a special year. The viral pandemic has impacted family lives, business operations, social activities, and the overall health of each and every one of us. Thanksgiving celebrations everywhere are unlike the gatherings of years gone by.
This year, for this day of thanks, the team at SERVPRO of Glenview would like to wish our customers, clients, community members, and vendors a safe, healthy, and meaningful Thanksgiving. May this year bring you the opportunity to see beyond material objects, to look within, and to discover what it is that you truly value and are thankful to have.
As we take a moment to contemplate all the changes and how things are different this year, there are still many reasons we are thankful, and as such, we count our blessings.
SERVPRO of Glenview has been operating under owner Jeff Thompson, for three years, since October 2017. We are thankful for the loyal members of our team: Production Manager, Saul Perez, who has been with Jeff from the beginning; new Office Manager, Donna Thompson, who joined the office team in September; Suzie Koivun, Marketing Manager, who shifted departments in September; and Crew Chief, Ron Elmgren, who joined the production crew in March. Additionally, we are thankful we have crew members that we were able to count on in our times of need this year, as they came in and worked 10-12 hour days during the huge storm event in May. Thank you to Walden, Tim, Aaron, Steve, Luis, Matty, Brian, Zack, Aleks, Troy, Jordan, Jonah, and David.
Each of our SERVPRO team members is blessed with a wonderful family and we are grateful that they understand that at times our jobs with SERVPRO call us away from our time with them. This year in particular, families have had an extra worry, because SERVPRO of Glenview provides residential and commercial bioremediation services for the very virus that has changed the way we live our lives: coronavirus. SERVPRO of Glenview production team members have responded to positive covid exposures and provided sanitizing and disinfection services for a growing number of area businesses and residences. We are grateful they are helping our communities be safer as a result.
2020 has also been a "storm-y" year. There were days of great rainfall in our area in May and hundreds of area homes were impacted by the storm. Our teams were busy for three solid weeks in May and June, pumping out basements that flooded and providing mitigation services. In late August, Hurricane Laura made landfall in Lake Charles, LA, and SERVPRO of Glenview was one of the first franchises to respond to the call from corporate for help. Our team spent over two months in Louisiana - including having to evacuate to Houston themselves when Hurricane Delta blew through. All in all, we were among the 62 franchises who provided support and assistance to the overwhelmed residents and businesses of southwestern Louisiana. 2020 continues to be a record-breaking hurricane season. As of this writing, Hurricane Iota, a Category 5 storm, was the latest hurricane this season to make landfall. We are nearing the end of November - but we are not yet at the end of the hurricane season! Not only are we thankful to our team members for the extended time and efforts in mitigating homes and businesses in Lake Charles, LA, we extend our thanks and gratitude to their wives and families and pets that they left for over two months. We know everyone is glad our team is back home and safe!
We are thankful for continued growth in the Glenview/Northbrook communities. We are grateful for the dedicated service of our local first responders, fire fighters, police, and emergency personnel - their continued loyalty to serving our community has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated this year. Special thanks to all the healthcare workers in our lives for their extraordinary support this year!
We are grateful for our customers who call on us, depend on us, and trust us to provide them with cleanup and restoration services following fire, smoke, or water damage at their home or residence. We know the situation is stressful and aggravating, and we appreciate that our customers count on us to respond quickly and get the job done right.
Thank you for choosing SERVPRO of Glenview for your Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration needs. We are always Here to Help.®
Call our office at 847-832-9300 if you should need any of our services at your home or business. Know that our team is dedicated to serving our customers in their time of need. We hope we make you feel like you're part of our family. And if you ARE our customer, we certainly hope you feel that way! We are always so very thankful for your positive words in an online review, recommendation, or referral.

About Coronavirus
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is responding to an outbreak of a respiratory disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, and has now spread to over 60 locations internationally (as of this writing), including cases in the United States. The virus known as "coronavirus disease 2019" (abbreviated "COVID-19") is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person or through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes - but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
Scope of Cleanup Protocol
SERVPRO® professionals can perform a PROACTIVE CLEANUP that involves facility or structure cleaning and disinfection where the customer states there is no active known threat of COVID-19 contamination or exposure. The customer will be required to acknowledge that cleaning and disinfecting will only apply to the current state of the structure and contents. The structure would not be protected from future COVID-19 contamination if an infected person was to enter and occupy the building.
Cleanup and Scope of Work and Planning
The CDC encourages cleaning of high-touch surfaces such as counters, tabletops, doorknobs, light switches, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets, and tables - at a minimum. These same surfaces are mentioned in the CDC's guidance for commercial spaces as well, including:
- Kitchen/Food Areas
- Bathrooms
- Schools/Classrooms
- Offices
- Retail Spaces
- Water Fountains
- Shelving and Racks
- Sales Counters
- Carpets and Rugs
- Stair Handrails
- Elevator Cars
- Playground Equipment
- Fitness Equipment
Cleanup and Disinfecting Procedures
Cleanup procedures general include cleaning of porous and non-porous surfaces, disinfecting of non-porous surfaces, cleaning and disinfecting of equipment, tools, and/or supplies used for cleanup process, and disposal of waste.
The CDC recommends usage of a labeled hospital-grade disinfectant with claims against similar type organisms to COVID-19.
SERVPROXIDE™ is SERVPRO's proprietary disinfectant. SERVPROXIDE™ is a hospital-grade disinfectant which has demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to SARS-CoV-2 on hard, non-porous surfaces. In addition, SERVPROXIDE™ currently has dozens of EPA-approved claims, notably Feline coronavirus, Canine coronavirus, Staphylococcus (MRSA), E.coli, Salmonella, Rotavirus, Swine flu (H1N1), among others.
Porous surfaces that are not water-sensitive, such as carpet and other fabric material, cannot be disinfected but can be sanitized using SERVPROXIDE™.
